Quartzite

Quartzite is a brittle, non-foliated metamorphic rock composed entirely of quartz sandstone. Sandstone is transformed into quartzite with the application of heat and pressure. Since it is harder and more resistant to stains than other shades of granite, its use for kitchen counters is expanding rapidly. Quartzite possesses the durability of granite and the appearance of marble.
